Hi everyone,
I'm doing yet another article, which is going to be hopefully published in either teh Gold Coast Bulletin or our student mag Get Amungst It, on the pros and cons of alternative medicine as opposed to conventional medicine.
I was just wondering which method, or combination of methods, even, you think is more beneficial, and why or why not? Do you have any experiences you wish to share on this topic?
Note: if you don't want to be quoted, or for your username to appear in the article, feel free to let me know when you respond.
Thanks, everyone!
Jess.
Hello GG. Well I have tried both to help me sleep and the conventional method was a course of tempazipam a sedative .which knocked me out leaving me tired numb and of use to nobody. The alternative treatment was a course of herbal pills designed to aid restful sleep. From 3 days in to the course,I had increasingly disturbing dreams, which culminated in a truly horrid nightmare..I stopped taking the herbal pills imediately. However,it took 3 days or more, before I could enjoy nightmare free sleep. On the whole there are far better ways to solve insomnia than these two remedies. There is a big debate going on after a recent study disproved the efficacy of alternative medicine. I used to use natural medicine, but I found the side effects, were just too unpleasant..You may quote this idf it's suitable.cheers
Hi, Gobliin. Thanks for your response, and yes, it's suitable. smile.
Thanks again.
Jess.
Hi again, Goblin: I was wondering if you could give me the names of the compnaies you had this aweful trouble with? I'm thinking of contacting them and getting their stances / defences. I wouldn't be a balanced journalists, otherwise, see, and I am damn curious to see how they defend themselves, also! But if you don't wish to relinquish the info, it's no problem to me.
Thanks,
Jess.
ok, I always go for a system that considers complementary medicine, not alternative. The only time so far I've decide on alternative was ST John's wort over Anti depressants. It is wrong in my opinion to consider that we can cure serious illness with purely herbal or alternative therapies. However I do believe strongly that a good well researched combination can be of great help. I'm surprised to hear of serious side effects from a herbal remedy, by the nature of them being totally natural, they shouldn't cause any major side effects, though I guess anything can if you have a basic intollerance or alergy towards it. The problem with mass production and the ease with which such supplements are now available means that if you want a totally natural herb, you have to go to a specialist, as chemists/drug stores will sell stuff that is bulked so much with rubbish such as purified talc and other such agents. Luckily if you can find a good specialist, you get decent information, decent supplements, and you get them at reasonable prices.
Hi ya Kev,
Thanks for your response - very useful.
Thanks again,
Jess.
Back again: I just forgot to ask, do you mind if I quote you, Kev?
Jess, feel free, if I respond to any of your quests for such information, you are free to quote me unless I specifically say otherwise. Good luck.
Thanks, Kev, much appreciated.
